Obituary for Mary "Coot" Hilburn

Mary "Coot"  Hilburn
Mrs. Mary Frances “Coot” Hilburn, 77, of Taylorsville, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Paulding County on September 10, 1939, the daughter of the late Bill Hovers and Ruby Ruff Hovers.

Mrs. Hilburn was a member of Floyd Creek Baptist Church and an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She was also active in the Cartersville Moose Lodge and Mooseheart. Mrs. Hilburn was fondly known as “Coot” by her family and friends. She retired from NAPA Auto Parts as a bookkeeper with 35 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Hilburn; a son, Thomas Hilburn; and a brother who died at birth.

She is survived by her children, Jean Reynolds (Wayne) of Taylorsville, Penny Hilliard (Donald) of Emerson, Gloria James of Cartersville, Joyce Morris of Cartersville, John Hilburn of Taylorsville, James Hilburn (Cherry) of Emerson, Robert Hilburn of Cartersville, William Hilburn (Elaine) of Cassville and Paul Hilburn (Deborah) of Chatsworth; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; special cousin, Thomas Ruff and his wife, Pat; her aunt Mildred Ruff; and several other cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Keith Guyton officiating.

Christopher Reynolds, Jeffrey Reynolds, Dalton Reynolds, Dusty Hilburn, Jesse Hilburn and Michael Parker will serve as active pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Morris, Kenneth Morris, William Hilburn, Jr., Foster Bobo, Billy Hilburn, T.J. Hilburn, Clifton Parker, Coleton Parke, Brylon Reynolds, Jamison Reynolds and Daren Brooks.

Flowers will be accepted, but for those who choose, donations may be made to the Mooseheart Children’s Home, Mooseheart, Illinois, 60539.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jean and Wayne Reynolds and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their loving care and support during Mrs. Hilburn’s illness.
