Obituary for Ralph Cecil Vaughan

Ralph Cecil  Vaughan

Mr. Ralph Cecil Vaughan, 86, of Cartersville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Tifton, Georgia, June 8, 1924, Mr. Vaughan was the son of the late Cicero Vaughan and the late Ethel Brooks Vaughan. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Felton, Dorsey, Herman, and Frank Vaughan, along with a sister, Lillie Vaughan.



Mr. Vaughan retired from Lockheed Martin after thirty-eight years of service where he was a jig and fixture supervisor. Following his retirement he loved the part time job that he had with Richard Wynn Pontiac delivering cars. He was a founding member of Christian Fellowship and was an active member in several other ministries at Church of God including the jail ministry, head usher and council member. He was also a veteran having served in the United States Army during WWII.



He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lanelle Ward Vaughan; his daughters, Joyce Swinford and husband, Wayne, and Joan Garland and husband, Allan; his grandchildren, Jennifer Westbrook Kelly and Preston Garland; his great-grandchild, Reese Kelly; a brother and sister-in-law, Sherlin and Marie Vaughan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lud and Hazel Ward of Ohio, and John and Dee Akins of Cartersville.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Richie Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.



The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 p.m., Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
