Obituary for Justus Dean Sheldon
Reverend Justus Dean Sheldon, 40, of Cartersville, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Pruitt Health in Austell.
Born February 16, 1978 in Lithia Springs, he was a son of Paula Dean Sheldon and the late Jimmy Lowell Sheldon, Sr. Dean served as youth pastor at Acworth First Baptist Church, Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN, and First Baptist Church in Scottsboro, AL. Dean held several interim pastoral positions and last served as pastor of Zion View Baptist Church in Austell. Dean was the quarterback for his high school football team at East Paulding High School and was an avid Tennessee Volunteer fan.
Survivors include his wife, Tori Bennett Sheldon; his mother and step-father, Paula and Tim Hensley of Covington, TN; sister, Monica Panell of Cartersville; brothers, Jimmy Sheldon, Jr. of Douglasville, and David Sheldon of Dallas; Moma Irene and Poppa Mark Odom of Smyrna; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Sammy Burgess and his father-in-law, The Reverend Phil Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 to 1:30 prior to the service.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jermey Gable, Ryan Chapman, Joe McAlister, Kevin Ray, David Sheldon, and Jimmy Sheldon.
