Mr. Boyd T. Owens, 86, of Cartersville, died on Friday January 12, 2018 at Cartersville Heights nursing home. Born in Argo, Alabama on September 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Thomas Byrd Owens and Maggie Teague.

Mr. Owens attended Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was a veteran, having served in the US Navy. He worked for Sealtest, Meadow Gold. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ellis Owens, Cecil Adams, Weldon Adams; and his sister, Bernice Davis.

Survivors include his nephews and nieces, Allen and Mary Owens of Acworth, Ga., Karen and Jerry Lane of White, Ga., Charlene Oliver of Cartersville, Ga., Arleen Boggs of Doraville, Ga., J.W. Adams of Tennessee, Gwen Gustavson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; several great nieces and nephew and three great-great-great nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend Allen Owens officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
