Obituary for Donald Oscar Parks

Mr. Donald Oscar Parks, 68, of Acworth, died on Monday, December 04, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Austell, Georgia on August 27, 1949, the son of Mary Evelyn Gravley Parks and the late Arthur Parks.

Mr. Parks was self- employed as a mechanic and was well known in the Oak Grove Community in Cherokee County. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved classic cars and fishing. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Mae Parks and a brother, Eddie Lee Parks.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joan Parks of Acworth; his mother, Mary Evelyn Butterworth of Acworth; his children, Kimberly Parks and Kevin Parks both of Acworth; his grandchildren, Madison Bell, Erica Bell, Brooke Bell, Hannah Parks, Ansley Parks and Addison Killian; two great-grandchildren, Paislee Millwood and Raelynn Brookshire; and his brothers, Tommy Parks of Acworth, Billy Parks of Adairsville and Mark Butterworth of Dallas.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Acworth with The Reverend Danny Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Parks will be carried to the church on Wednesday to lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service.
