Obituary for David Earl Collum

Mr. David Earl Collum of Cartersville passed away on Tuesday, November 07, 2017 at his residence. A native of Bartow County, born on September 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Myrtle Greene Collum and Wes Collum.

David was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and a man who loved his family very much. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and keeping busy in his wood working shop. He was always volunteering to help others with anything they needed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, James, Billy, Randolph and Bradford Collum, Louise Davis, Syble Camp, Dimple Collum, Pearl Kimbarl, Wilma Jean Grady, Carol Sue Adams; his biological mother, Claudale Welchel; and his half-sisters, Elaine and Teresa Welchel.

Survivors include his wife, Martha “Ann” Lee Collum of 51 years; his children, Dolores and Freddy McFall, Donald and Christie Collum, Lamar and Natalie Collum and Samantha and Philip Jennings; his brother, Roy "Buck“ Collum (Joyce), his half- brothers, Rodney, Harry and Larry Welchel; his half-sisters, Carrie Turner and Regina Welchel; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Junior Grady and Patricia Collum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with The Reverend Tommy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Collum will lie-in-state from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church on Thursday. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be D.J., Warren, Justin, Trevor and Dillion Collum, Adam Reynolds and Tony Luxner. Tristan Martin will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
