Obituary for Barbara Wilkey Hight

Barbara Wilkey  Hight
Mrs. Barbara Wilkey Hight, 83, of Cartersville passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at her home. A native of Bartow County, born on March 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Luther (Luke) Massey and Emma Lee Nolan.

Barbara was a member of the Cartersville Church of God. She was a strong willed woman who loves the Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She also enjoyed watching the Braves no matter the outcome. She loved, collected and enjoyed reading about angels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Wilkey; her siblings, Helen Haney and Franklin Lee Massey; her husband, Kenneth Hight; and the father of her children, Emmett Wilkey.

Survivors include her children, Mike Wilkey and wife, Rachel, Dave Wilkey and Steve Wilkey; her grandchildren, Blake Wilkey (Jill), Keisha Fulton (Jeff), Brent Wilkey (Abby) and Christian Benson (Chris); her great-grandchildren, Ashton Wilkey, Davis Wilkey, Brooks, Rae and Reid Fulton, Dane, Webb and Tuck Wilkey, Caden , Carter and Colton Benson.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend C. E. Wilkey officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from Noon – l:30 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Wilkey, Jeff Fulton, Brent Wilkey, Chris Benson, Billy Payne, Chris Wilkey and Kelly Wilkey.

Flowers will be accepted, but for those who choose, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 41 Perimenter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, Ga. 30346.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Amedisys Hospice for their incredible love and care throughout Mrs. Wilkey’s illness.
