Obituary for Ellis Jerald Owens

Mr. Ellis Jerald Owens, 88, of Cartersville, died on Friday, September 01, 2017 at Maple Ridge Healthcare Center. He was born in Argo, Alabama on July 1, 1929 the son of the late Thomas Byrd Owens and Maggie Teague.

Mr. Owens was a member of New Beginning Baptist Church in White and of the Cartersville Lodge #63 FA&M. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force and finished out his career at Lockheed-Martin as a fireman for the next 35 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Ellen Louise Simpson Owens; three brothers; three sisters; and one grandson.

Survivors include his children, Karen and Jerry Lane of White, Charlene Oliver of Cartersville and Allen and Mary Owens of Acworth; one brother, Boyd Owens of Cartersville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, 2017 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverends Michael Matthews and Allen Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Cassville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
