Obituary for Dixie Jeanne Lowery

Dixie  Jeanne  Lowery
Dixie Jeanne Evans Lowery born July 23, 1939 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 5, 2017. A native of Bartow County, Jeanne was born on July 23, 1939, the daughter of the late William Dixie and Ruth Simmons Evans.

Jeanne was a faithful member of Peeples Valley Community Church where she has been the secretary-treasurer for many years. Jeanne graduated from Cass High School in 1957. She was the editor of the Cascon, a cheerleader, member of the Beta Club, Science Club, Tri-Hi-Y, FHA, Glee Clubs and member of the Trumpet Staff. She grew up working at the cattle stockyards and after graduation worked many years at Dixie Finance in Cartersville. For 20+ years she and her family were owner/operators of Lowery’s Food Store on Cassville Road, Cartersville.

Jeanne also known as Sally, Nean Nean and Aunt Nean was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, son Doug Lowery, sister Jenny Shook, brothers Jerry, Kenny, Jody & Sandy Evans.

Survivors include her daughter Donna Lowery Priest and husband Randy; her grandson Gibson, (who was the light of his Nean Nean’s life.) Also surviving is her step-granddaughter Amanda Pallone; her sisters Joyce (Sammy) Morris and Janney (Kenny) Ingram; her brother Sammy (Charlene) Evans; her God Daughter Haley Morris and a special niece and nephew, Briar Evans and Brolin Evans, DVM; her sisters in-law Joyce Hayward, and Shirley Lowery; brother-in- law W.C. Lowery; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeanne was so blessed to have her church family and loved each member as her own family. She had several special caregivers and nurses: Mary Cooper Hogue, Karen Temples and the nurses at Coosa Valley/Amedisys Home Health Services.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Larry Hufstetler and The Reverend Kenneth Wilbur officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 Noon – 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Lowery, Ronnie Lowery, Michael McIntyre, John Pitner, Donavan Shook and David Evans. Honorary Pallbearers will be her personal physicians/friends: Dr. Bevill, Dr. Black, Dr. Perry, Dr. Daniel and, Dr. Sidlow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Peeples Valley Community Church, c/o Larry Hufstetler, 14 Rice Dr. SE, Cartersville, GA 30121.
