Obituary for Ralph Mathis Hilley

Ralph Mathis  Hilley
Mr. Ralph Mathis Hilley, 92, of Cartersville, died Friday, June 9, 2017 at Waldrop Assisted Living.

He was born to the late Jasper Morgan Hilley and Lettie Mae Shaw in Royston, Georgia on February 18, 1925. Mr. Hilley was employed by Texas Steel but retired from Atlantic Steel. He was a combat veteran of the Armed Guard of the United States Navy and served on Liberty Ships in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In his spare time he enjoyed working on lawn movers and doing wood work. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents is his wife of 68 years, Billie Jacqueline Ayers Hilley.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Beverly Hilley of North Carolina, Larry and Belinda Hilley of Joshua, Texas, Paul and Pam Hilley of Cartersville and Don and Vickie Hilley of Cartersville; his grandchildren, Lorie Molton, Rich and Mary Ann Molton, Brent and Christa Hilley, Summer and Robbie Hudson, Tyler Hilley, Matt and Carolina Hilley, Robin and Mike McTighe, Mindy and Richard Duncan and Craig Hilley and Teresa Medley; his sisters, Rea Dennington of Hartwell, Carol Morris of North Carolina and Billie Faye Hilley of Hartwell; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Joe McKaig officiating. Interment of the ashes will follow in Providence Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.
