Obituary for Mark Alan Givins

Mark Alan  Givins
Mark Alan Givins, 51, of Cartersville, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at his residence. Born in Floyd County on July 22, 1965, he was the son of Bobby Givins and the late Lena Minter Givins.

Mark retired from the Bartow County Sherriff’s Department with 30 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, watching College Football, riding his motorcycle, playing the guitar, singing, playing golf, watching NASCAR and collecting Civil War relics. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Zayne Allmon and grandparents, Dewey and Hattie Minter and Maudie Roberts.

Survivors include his father, Bobby Givins; his son, Preston Givins; his step-son, Devin Allmon; his granddaughter, Hagen Allmon; his siblings, Carl Givins, Cindy Bragg (Jason), Vicky Givins Minshew and Fiance’, Todd Bullock; along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Jerome Black officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Memorial Park South. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Carey Millsap, Clark Millsap, Greg Clark, Dean Minter, Scott Blackmon and David Hooper. Greg Tolbert, Eddie Digsby and Chris Beall will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the National Hemophilia Foundation, First Street, Northeast, Suite 720, Washington, DC 20002 and The Wounded Police Officer Fund.
