Obituary for Annis Gunn (Heath)

Mrs. Annis Heath Gunn of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on January 17, 2017. Mrs. Gunn was born October 28th, 1931 in Tuscumbia, Alabama, daughter of the late John Virgil Heath and Lillie Mae Bolinger Heath.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of sixty six years Fred Gunn Jr., brother John Henry Heath, and grandson Paul Wesley Gunn.

Before retirement Mrs. Gunn assisted her husband as a cook at the County jail while he worked as Deputy Sherriff and later worked in the Emergency Room and Operating Room as an LPN at Sam Howell Hospital. After retiring, in 1980 she began to help run the family business, Gunn Contracting Inc., helped raise her grandchildren, tended to her farm animals, and garden. She is best described by her family as devoted, patient, loving, and witty. She loved to laugh, take care of her family, and tell jokes. Mrs. Gunn was a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Darlene Gunn, Freddie and Tonya Gunn; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Ronny Gossett and Fredia and Tony Hall all of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Amanda Silvers of Kingston, Michael Gunn, Bryan Hall, Justin Gunn, Jessica Williams,and Jason Gunn, all of Cartersville; her brothers, Charles, Donald and Thurman Heath; along with twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Joe Ringwalt officiating. The family will receive family and friends on Friday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Felton Berry, Joe Tilley, Steve Stewart, Dr. Donald Evans, Michael Howren, Mark Mayton, Gene Camp and Eddie Mills.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rowland Springs Baptist Church, 79 Rowland Springs Road SE, Cartersville, Ga. 30121 in Mrs. Gunn’s memory.
