Obituary for Eulene Quick

Eulene  Quick
Mrs. Eulene Lynette Knowles Quick, age 67, of 20 Barnsdale Way, Rome, GA, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at her residence.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mrs. Quick, was born on January 14, 1939 to the late Eulas E. Knowles and Minnie M. Williams Knowles. Prior to retirement she was associated with G.C. Murphy's, Southern Whole Sale, and Video Village. Mrs. Quick was a member of Liberty View Baptist Church in Lindale of 57 years and was baptized at age fifteen. Her house was where all the family celebrated all important milestones, holidays, and family events. She loved all the excitement and enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, reading, singing to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and working puzzles. Not only was Mrs. Quick a wonderful cook but she also enjoyed a large garden with vegetables and flowers. She is lovingly remembered as "memaw" by her grand children and "neneen" to her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Quick was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Joe Quick, to whom she married on May 29, 1959; seven brothers; two sisters; and a granddaughter, Abbie K. Harris.

Mrs. Quick is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robbie (Sarah) Quick of Rome, Ritchie Quick of Rome, Barry (Alison) Quick of Camp Lejeune, NC; two daughters and son-in-law, Donna (John) Harris of Calhoun, GA, and Denise Quick (Tony Nantz) of Rome; eight grand children, Marla (Ben) Cole, Laura, Tyler, and Haley Quick all of Rome, Hannah Turner (Phil)of Cedartown, Ben Harris of Calhoun, Lindsey and Meagan Quick of Camp Lejuene, NC; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Cole of Rome, and River Forsyth of Cedartown; Foster son, Steven (Michelle) Forsyth of Rome; and two brothers, Larry (Joyce) Knowles of Rome, and Charles (Janice) Knowles of Cartersville, GA. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Quick will be held Saturday, January 13, 2007, at 1 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Tim East and Pastor Jackie Culberson. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6 until 9 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. At other hours the family will receive in Eulene's home.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and include the following gentlemen Ben Harris, Dale Knowles, Tommy Knowles, Jimmy Knowles, Ray McKinney, and Gene Knowles. Mrs. Quick's nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
