Obituary for Gladys P. Queen

Gladys P.  Queen

Mrs. Gladys P. Locklear Queen, age 86, of 12 Chateau Drive, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, in a local nursing home.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mrs. Queen, was born on April 29, 1921, daughter of the late John B. Locklear and Sally Blalock Locklear. She was associated with the Naval Ordinance of Macon, GA, and prior to retirement she was associated with Advanced Glove Mill. Mrs. Queen had been a member of the St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She sang with Kitty Alford on the radio for the Cheerful Givers program and in churches as well. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Edgar "Bo" Queen in 1955, and her son, Johnny Queen in 1968.

Mrs. Queen is survived by two sisters, Virginia Locklear Peters of Jackson, TN, and Frances Locklear Grenci of Clearwater, FL. Several cousins, two nieces, and a nephew also survive.

Graveside and interment services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 P.M. in the East View Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service and at other hours in the home of Dean and Joyce Gilleland, 16 Summit Drive, Lindale, GA.
